March 22 - The Stamp Act is passed by the English Parliament and is the first direct tax on the
American colonies.
May 3 - The first medical school in the colonies is founded and will later be called the College of Physicians and Surgeons.
December 9 - Boston merchants join the non-importation movement in order to repeal the Stamp Act.
